Settle is private by design. Everything you photograph and enter about the estate stays on your device, protected by your iPhone's encryption. We never collect, transmit or receive your estate data. There are no ads inside the app, no third-party trackers, and we never sell your data.
Two narrow exceptions, both described in full below, neither of which can identify you:
This information stays on your device, protected by your iPhone's encryption. We have no access to it. You can export all of it, or delete all of it, at any time from within the app — for free.
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple so the app can unlock paid features; we do not receive your name or payment-card details.
Settle uses your camera only to photograph documents you choose to capture. Photos are processed on your device and are not uploaded. Settle never accesses your camera in the background.
Two things, and only these two.
Ad attribution. If you tapped an Apple Ads advert for Settle before installing, Apple's AdServices framework tells us the campaign, ad group and keyword that led you here. It is provided by Apple from your tap on the App Store, not gathered by watching you, and it says nothing about who you are. We use it to stop paying for adverts that do not work.
Three counters. The app reports, at most once ever per install:
plan_built — the setup questions were answered and a plan now existspaywall_seen — the upgrade screen was shown (not which limit prompted it)subscribed — a subscription beganEach is sent to a server we operate ourselves, on our own Cloudflare account — not to an analytics company. We store no IP address, no device identifier, no advertising identifier, no account, and no clock time, only the date. Nothing from the estate is included: not the decedent's name, not the state, not an institution, not an amount, not a document. Because there is no identifier, these counts cannot be joined together into a history of any individual, by us or by anyone who obtained the database.
Why collect anything at all: without these three numbers we cannot tell the difference between an app people install and use, and one they install and abandon — and we would keep spending on adverts either way. The list above is the complete extent of it, and the app enforces it in code.
We may later offer optional features that require processing data off your device — for example, cloud backup, sync across devices, or AI document reading. These will be strictly opt-in. Before any such feature is released, we will update this policy and our App Store privacy disclosures to describe exactly what is processed, and you will be asked to turn it on. Until then, the app collects nothing.
Depending on where you live (including California under the CCPA/CPRA and the EU/UK under GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your information. Because your data lives on your device, you can exercise these directly in the app at any time. For anything else, contact us at support@vertexlabsolutions.com.
Settle is intended for adults handling estate matters and is not directed to children under 13.
We will update this policy as the app evolves and will revise the "last updated" date above.
